It includes yellow cabs certified safe for foreign tourists

TECATE – The State's Secretary of Tourism (SECTURE), headed this Monday the start of the Tecate "Pueblo Mágico" Urban Image Improvement and Tourist Equipping, a program that uses a 4.7 million pesos federal, state and local fund.

The head of SECTURE, Óscar Escobedo Carignan, stated that the funds will be used on the improvement of more than 25 store fronts located at the heart of the Magical Town, as well as the restoration of the northern part of the town's city hall.

"These investments are part of an executive project for Tecate and are part of a $98 million-peso fund, where $55 million have been invested directly on 44 neighborhoods in the past 2 years.

Escobedo Carignan also stated that so far in 2016, they're planning a 25 million-peso investment on the wiring transition on the historic section of Juarez Avenue, as well as the urban furnishing, the signposting of seven wineries and a new bridge sign welcoming tourists to the Northern Wine Route.

Also, the public transit certification program started as well, part of the Tecate tourism action plan in coordination with Tecate's local government,

in collaboration with the Yellow Cab Association, in which 37 vehicles where fitted with a sticker that identifies them as secure units for foreign tourists.

It's worth noting that this is the first time that this kind of effort is done, an effort that aims to include all of the city's public transit units in order to bring security to tourists and generate a better tourism experience.
