Playas de Tijuana Welcomed 10 Thousand People This Weekend

The delegate of the area was sorry about the bodies found on Saturday

TIJUANA.- Labor Day weekend has always been the perfect excuse to visit Tijuana, and this time wasn't the exception. Playas de Tijuana registered more than 10 thousand people that came to enjoy the beach and all the extraordinary things this side of the city has to offer.

Unfortunately, the delegate of the area, Martina Montenegro, announced that on Saturday morning two corpses were found a couple of meters away from the siege that divides the United States and Mexico.

She said to newspaper El Sol de Tijuana that "it all happened due to lack of precaution, and that fortunately, the victim's wifes and sons were safe... it's really dangerous when people drink at the beach, no one should drink in this area."

Besides this tragic news, the weekend was full of families that enjoyed a couple of days with a great variety of activities.

The only missing thing this year was the famous "Festiarte", the festival that until now, took place in Parque Mexico of Playas de Tijuana. This year's location was the esplanade of Tijuana's Cultural Center (CECUT), where every exhibitor had the chance of participating in a more organized way, but certainly it wasn't the same and lot of people expressed their dissagreement with this decision.

This event had been a tradition in Playas de Tijuana for 9 years, but they had to change the place because people in the neighborhood signed a petition with the aim of moving Festiarte from Parque Mexico to another place. Authorities suggested that it could be moved to the Culture House of Playas de Tijuana, but neighbors didn't want that either.
