Disney Breaks Ties With PewDiePie for Anti-Semitic Videos

The most famous youtuber in the world no longer has a contract with this successful company

PewDiePie is a Swedish youtuber who won the hearts of people thanks to his genuine humor and creative videos which made him reach more than 53 million followers on YouTube.

Felix Kjellberg, his real name, managed to grab the attention of one the biggest media companies in the world, Disney, signing a contract with him even before he was 27.

But yesterday evening, that came to an end when Marker Studios, a Disney company that partners with online producers, announced that the business relationship they had with the youtuber was over, although they've been working together since 2014.

The reason for this separation was a video posted on January, 11 in which PewDiePie makes anti-semitic "jokes" through pictures showing two young men holding up a sign that says "death to all Jews" a fact that sparked the fury of many people on social media.

The Vlogger's counterargument was that he was trying to explain the consequences or functions of an app called Fiverr, where certain amounts of money are paid to make challenges, something like the movie called "Nerve".

Despite that explanation, Disney also noticed that he had other videos where he had come out dressed as Hitler while making a hand sign and a meme where he shows Jesus saying that "Hitler did not do anything wrong", so splitting from Disney imminent.

"I just wanted to show how crazy the modern world is, especially some services that are on the web. I want to make it clear that I do not support this hateful attitude and I understand that the jokes were offensive," PewDiePie said.
