Advantages and risks of doing business in another country

The University of San Diego and PROCOPIO organized the 2017 edition of USD-PIBS, a business summit designed to help identify the advantages and risks of doing business in another country, as well as understand unique cultural matrixes. This event united a group of experts from around the world who shared their experiences in doing business in the U.S.

The first panel, "Current Investment Climate in the U.S.: Now is the Right Time!" included the participation of Jose Rasco, Head of Investment Strategy at HSBC Bank North America and Marcela Celorio, Mexican Consul General in San Diego, as the panel moderator.

Jose Rasco commented that the Federal Reserve (Fed) has continued to increase short term interest rates, adding that the Fed could increase long term interest rates and start to reduce its balance at the end of the year.

He added that he did not foresee a recession in the U.S. as the country's economy looks strong. Nevertheless, he commented that the largest growth rates will not be seen in the U.S. but in India and China, they will be pushed by the technological sector and the environment. According to Rasco, other high growth economies will be Indonesia and Brazil.
