Rosarito continues to strengthen its position as Baja California's furniture capital

With a flow of nearly 10,000 visitors and an estimated economic output of more than $750,000 dollars, the second edition of the 2017 Baja California Furniture Expo was held at the Baja California Convention Center. Tourists from Baja California and the United States attended the event.

The director of 2017 Baja California Furniture Expo, Juan Bosco Lopez Ramirez, said that Rosarito continues to consolidate itself as Baja California's furniture capital, with the help of Tijuana, Mexicali and Tecate. At the same time, this boosts the tourist, gastronomy and transportation sectors.

Although the previous edition had a larger number of participating companies, Juan Bosco stressed that this year, there was a greater variety of furniture on display and more on-site sales.

During the inauguration ceremony, Juan Santana Bosquet, President of the Rosarito Beach Advisory Council for Economic Development (CCDER), emphasized that with Jalisco's alliance as a guest to the Expo, Rosarito has managed to excel in this sector. The city has 45 years of experience in Baja California and there are approximately 650 manufacturers.

Mercedes Abundis Sánchez, President of the Jalisco Furniture Manufacturers Association (AFAMJAL), commented that if the furniture sector grew by 15% in 2016, this year it will grow at least 10%cmore. "In this area, it will be able to grow even more for housing and hotel developments, this invites us to innovate, but also to seek logistical efficiency for customer satisfaction," she said.

During the event, the second edition of the regional furniture design competition was held, as well as a series of workshops and conferences by renowned specialists in the different disciplines.
