TIJUANA.- Los Guajardo is a franchise of healthy tamales from Nuevo León, which will very soon arrive in Tijuana.

This business is the first to bring healthy tamales to the country, which are also recommended by the Mexican Diabetes Association of Nuevo Leon, which are ideal for people who have diabetes or for those who are looking for a different lifestyle.

Why are these tamales more healthy?
They are made with a low in fat cooking process and they have less than 3 grams of fat per serving.

This new concept of tamales will be in Tijuana by August, for the moment the date and the exact address of this new place are unknown, but it is know that it will be located on Ermita Sur.

Some of the flavors you'll be able to try are panela cheese with vegetables, chicken with morrón pepper and tomato, spinach with corn, shredded beef with guajillo chili and pineapple-coconut with blueberries and stuffed with philadelphia cheese.

But apart from taking care of your health, this franchise is also responsible for caring for those less favored, so they have and initiative called "pending tamale," which means that before you leave, you can pay for one extra tamale, so it can be given to any person that needs it.

Each time you leave a pending tamale you can write it down on a blackboard, where you can see how many tamales have been donated. At the end of the month, Los Guajardo will hand out the tamales that the customers have donated.
