Governor Marina del Pilar spearheaded the criticism of Baja California's new Secretary of Security

Marina del Pilar has lodged a complaint with the Baja California Secretary of State

The Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, protested against Major General Gilberto Landeros Briseo's appointment as Secretary of Public Safety and Protection of the State on Saturday, January 1, 2022.

The state president expressed confidence that the head of the new Secretariat, which began operations on January 1, will protect the security of Baja Californians and restore tranquility to the state's streets.

She emphasized that the new security plan, which is focused on preventative and intelligence tactics, will yield favorable results for the benefit of the state's residents, focusing on the most vulnerable.

The new Secretary will be in charge of the State Citizen Security Force, stationed in the seven municipalities of Baja California.

General Gilberto Landeros was born in Naucalpan de Juárez, Mexico, and has served in the Mexican Army for almost 47 years. He holds a Bachelor's degree in military administration from the Defense College and a Master's degree in military administration for national security and defense from the Defense College and international courses on military intelligence and teaching staff training at the United States Army's School of the Americas.

Catalino Zavala Márquez, the General Secretary of the Government; Hiram Sánchez Zamora, the head of the Baja California State Attorney General's Office; and a substantial portion of the State Security Cabinet.
