What would you do with $355 million?

Today’s Mega Millions drawing is largest in state

Sure the odds are 1 in 175 million, but it’s tough not to dream about becoming an instant multimillionaire.

Today’s Mega Millions lottery game has reached $355 million.

If a Californian wins, it would be the largest prize ever awarded in the state. In fact, it’s one of the largest amounts ever awarded in the United States.

Ticket sales have soared in the last few days since the prize topped $200 million.

If you have never bought a lottery ticket, which costs one dollar, here’s how it works: Players pick a set of numbers from 1 to 56, and one number from 1 to 46. Or they can let the lottery’s computer pick the numbers for them.

The winning ticket has to have all six numbers of the numbers drawn. The probability of winning the Mega Millions are the aforementioned 1 in 175 million, according to an official from the California Lottery.

The last big lottery winners in California were a couple from Los Angeles, Jacki and Gilbert Cisneros, who won $266 million in May.

Tuesday’s drawing is at 8 p.m. Results will be posted on calottery.com.
