Mictlán en Tijuana: dinner at Mexican marigold fields inspired by Day of the Dead

You can still make a reservation for this dinner

On the newest episode of Baja Window to the South, our hosts made something really special for this program, which includes food by the famous chef Juan Cabrera Barrón and an incredible adventure alongside Club Kuchuma. Find out what was featured in this amazing episode!

First, our hosts traveled to the beautiful fields of Club Campestre in Tijuana where they met up with chef Juan Cabrera Barrón who shared that he has lived in Tijuana for five years, since he is a Mexico City native. They spoke about several topics, specifically, that his teachers have been his main influence.

In addition, he shared that he began as a hotelier and now has several restaurants in Baja California. He also shared that Casa Tijuana Project, one of his restaurants, will have a very special evening for the Day of the Dead, which includes a four-course meal inspired by this holiday.

This dinner will take place on October 21st and October 22nd, 2022.

We also find out all about the famous limpet tostadas of San Quintin where doña Mariela, who works at Mariscos Campo Don Álvaro, taught us how to prepare this delicious dish.

Something that reflects the adventurous spirit of our host Olga Sánchez de la Vega was her experience at Club Kuchuma, where she partook in rappelling. In Tecate, this group is known for organizing adventure and extreme sports tours with certified guides by the Secretariat of Tourism of Baja California.

Olga also had the opportunity of interviewing Yolanda Selene Walther Meade, co-founder of This Is About Humanity, a non-profit organization boosted by Tijuana native volunteers, that was created in April 2022 as a response to the pandemic.

The mission of this amazing organization is for no person to go hungry through prevention, detection, and by treating malnutrition.
