Daniel Valdez and Ivette Sandoval are the best Baja Californians at the 56th Marathon by INDE BC

The Mexicali native achieved this recognition for the first time, while this is the seventh consecutive year for Daniel Valdez

Baja Californian athletes have shown that they are the pride in the world of sports of Baja California, positioning themselves as the most notable athletes of Baja California at the 56th Marathon.

With a time of 2:16:26, Daniel Valdez “El Pollo” managed another achievement as a marathon runner, as he got the best time for a Baja Californian in the history of this marathon; previously, Tijuana native Javier “Bala” Zavala held this record with a time of 2:19.

In the woman’s category, Ivette Sandoval was the best Baja Californian with a time of 2:58:42, after running in the 35-39 year category. The Mexicali native by adoption was able to compete after a change of rules stating that with two years of residency in the state one could compete as a local athlete.

Valdez and Sandoval received an additional prize of $19,000 pesos for being the best Baja Californians. They will also receive support from INDE BC with a round trip flight to any marathon in the world within a timeframe of one year.
