Lanes will be closed temporarily at Otay Port of Entry

Starting tomorrow, some lanes will temporarily close

According to the General Services Administration (GSA), some lanes at the Otay border crossing that are used for vehicular inspections will be temporarily closed.

This will occur going north at the land Otay Mesa Port of Entry and this will take place on Wednesday, February 1 and Thursday, February 2, 2023. During these days, POV inspection lanes going north will be closed between 9 AM to 5 PM.

According to an official statement, GSA stated:

The temporary lane closures are necessary to perform precursory work ahead of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funded low-embodied carbon concrete paving project at the port.

If you’re wondering whether this can cause delays when crossing the port of entry, authorities have confirmed that this could indeed happen: “Drivers should anticipate possible delays, monitor traffic signs, and reduce speeds near and around the construction work area,” they said.
