Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana is back in the city streets with its most recent fourth season. In this first episode, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos de Birria El Jefe”, located at Blvd. Cucapah 20810, Apm. Guaycura. On this occasion, he tried two tacos: a birria taco priced at $1.55 dollars ($28 pesos) and a quesabirria priced at $3.59 dollars ($65 pesos).
Quesabirria
This taco has birria, purple onion, cilantro, red sauce, asadero cheese, and is served on a corn tortilla. The tortilla used for this quesabirria (cheese and birria taco) was drenched in the grease only in one half, something different from what is usually done in this type of taco. However, it was fried quite well, something that one could notice right away.
When he took his first bite, Chef Danny claimed that the cheese had a great texture due to its flavor and creaminess. The meat was seasoned well and the salsa was quite spicy, which is why this taco gets a rating of 8.8.
Price: $3.59 dollars ($65 pesos)
Birria Taco
This taco has birria, purple onion, coriander, red salsa, and is served on two store-bought corn tortillas; though their size was small, they weren’t as small as the ones that are usually used in adobada tacos.
Chef Danny stated that the meat was greasy, but it didn’t overwhelm the palate. The birria’s adobo was very good and the tortillas were quite soft, and when he took a bite, they created a paste with a nice flavor. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.2.
Price: $1.55 dollars ($28 pesos)
