For wine lovers and those who wish to create a positive impact on their community, the first Rosarito Wine Festival will take place on Saturday, July 22 at Centro Estatal de las Artes (CEART) in Playas de Rosarito.

From 3 PM to 10 PM, this event’s attendants will be able to acquire a commemorative glass of wine, try out 10 different wines, taste 10 different gastronomic samples from Baja California’s best restaurants, and listen to live music such as jazz, English and Spanish rock, mariachi, and Mexican dance music.

Regarding the varieties of wine, you’ll be able to choose from the best regional wineries of Valle de Guadalupe: CETTO, Norte 32, Barón Balché, Don Tomas, among others.

Beer and mixology drinks will also be sold, for those who prefer other alcohol drink options.

The President of Club Rotario in Rosarito, Mario Ciprés, stated that they expect an attendance of 500 people both from Baja California and California, who will be given ballots so that they can choose the best wine and the best dish. The first three places will be chosen from this, and they will receive an award.

Ciprés stated that earnings from this event will be allocated to three social causes:

The first is to aid Casa Hogar Horizontes, which helps orphan kids in Rosarito. Resources will be used to buy food and supplies, and pay for the expenses of this children’s home.

The second is to aid 39 young children with intellectual disability at the Multiple Assistance Center (CAM). Here, they are trained to work in local businesses, providing them with lessons in gardening, painting, art, cuisine, and socialization. This place was vandalized, which is why with help from Club Rotario in Houston, Texas, resources will be allocated to help them with refurbishing.

The third is to give scholarships to children and young people who wish to take classes or workshops at CEART Rosarito, as, for Club Rotario, there is nothing more important than promoting values through culture.

This event was promoted by the Committee of Tourism and Conventions (COTUCO) of Playas de Rosarito. Its promotion and marketing manager, Saúl Álvarez Rojas, stated that the ongoing heat has helped tourism increase in this municipality.

Now that it is a little hotter, we are having a lot of tourism. This has been going on for a month and a half, with beaches during the weekend being very crowded. And there are a lot of events happening such as “Festival del Pescado y el Marisco”, “La Noche Blanca”, “El Valle en la Playa”, all of these events are occurring on the beach.

Álvarez Rojas added that Rosarito has great wine and that “having a glass of wine next to the beach is a wholesome experience”.

He emphasized that they are very happy with events such as the Rosarito Wine Festival not only because of the business but because it provides economic revenue and the message that one must help those who need it the most.

Tickets cost $50 dollars and can be purchased on the day of the event as long as they are not sold out, and can be purchased on the following website: https://www.rosaritowinefest.com/

Admission will be only for adults with a valid ID.
