Say goodbye to daylight time! Baja California will turn back its clock one hour

With this modification, the border state will have a two-hour difference with the time in central Mexico

Mexico approved the elimination of daylight savings time, however, there are some places where it is still in place and the clock must be modified when necessary.

The northern states of Mexico, such as Baja California, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Chihuahua, and Tamaulipas, have decided to follow the time that is set in the United States in order to make things easier for the thousands of people who cross the border daily.

The Time Zone Law established that there are a total of 33 municipalities in the border region that must maintain time modifications so that they match those in the United States.

When will time change in Tijuana?

The time change will be next Sunday, November 5, which means that on that day, you will have to turn back the clock 1 hour.

It should be noted that smartphones already do this change by themselves, so you won't have to change the time in them. Analog devices must be changed manually; the ideal time to do this is in the early hours of Sunday.

With this modification, Baja California will have a two-hour difference with the time in central Mexico.

Why was Daylight Savings Time eliminated in several states of Mexico?

Daylight savings time was eliminated in the country because, according to the Secretariat of Health, it had negative effects on people, mainly kids.

After a bill introduced by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the Senate passed in 2022 the new Time Zone Law in the United Mexican States. This means that a standard time was established in the entire country.
