Marina del Pilar achieves 6 times higher investment in public welfare

The governor of Baja California increased the amount invested to support seniors and people with disabilities by 6 times

The government of Baja California led by Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, supporting Public Welfare, registered a 6 times increase in the amount invested to support seniors and people with disabilities. This amounts to 2,585 functional deliveries of aid in just the last two years.

The governor of Baja California highlighted that this amount of aid implies an investment of 20,242,000 pesos, which will significantly contribute to the quality of life of all people in a vulnerable condition.

The state governor stressed that coordination with Public Welfare has been essential for her government, as it follows the principles of the Fourth Transformation of not leaving anyone behind or outside.

In addition, Marina del Pilar revealed that Luz María Ríos Alvarado has been put in charge of the general management of the state DIF, substituting Mónica Vargas Núñez. As such, she wished the new head of this agency success.

For her part, the president of state DIF, Mavis Olmeda García, stated that the instructions by Governor Marina del Pilar is to prioritize dignified high-quality, comprehensive, and inclusive assistance for priority groups, with an emphasis on health preventive actions.

Regarding aid to welfare, the state official underscored that it includes wheelchairs, walkers, canes, bathroom chairs, hearing aids, bone conduction hearing aids, and cochlear implants for children and teenagers.

In addition, the Baja California DIF has a hospital service program where 205 cataract surgeries have been performed with an investment of 882,000 pesos as well as 46 hip surgeries with an investment of 1,559,529 pesos.

She added that, for the first time, implants have been given to women who have gone through breast cancer, which helps to directly improve their quality of life, rebuild their self-esteem, and strengthen their safety after experiencing this disease.

Olmeda García said that this aid will be given directly, free, and with no middlemen. She also said that to request this aid one needs to submit an official ID, CURP, and medical certificate (if the aid is mobility related), and visit a Centro de Rehabilitación Integral or Unidad Básica de Rehabilitación from Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM. State government presents assistance due to sixth winter storm

In addition, during the 116th edition of Wednesday Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar, the general secretary of Baja California, Alfredo Álvarez Cárdenas, highlighted the assistance that people have received after the sixth winter storm passed in Baja California.

The state official underscored that the State Council of Civil Protection will be in permanent session to address all incidents that occur, working together with municipal governments, the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), and the National Guard (GN).
