Prepare yourself! Closure of Avenida Internacional due to Elevated Viaduct project will last more than 4 months

The closure is due to the beginning of works at this viaduct

Staff of the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) is currently working in the "Elevated Viaduct", which is why the Municipal Administration of Tijuana is reminding the population that, due to these projects, a total closure of Avenida Internacional will take place in the evening.

The Secretary of Territorial, Urban, and Environmental Development (SDTUA), Juan Enrique Bautista Corona, said that works will take place from 11 PM to 4 AM on Tuesday, April 16 in order to not disrupt drivers who travel through heavy traffic.

During these evening hours, alternate routes will be enabled in both directions: from Playas de Tijuana to Vía Rápida Poniente, people will be able to use Avenida Venustiano Carranza and the lateral lane of Avenida Internacional.

Then, they can enter Calle Alberto Aldrete, cross the vehicular bridge to Colonia Federal so as to then get onto Puente México so as to then reincorporate themselves into Vía Rápida.

In addition, from Vía Rápida to Playas de Tijuana, the detour will consist of people entering through Calle Alberto Aldrete and then take Calle Francisco I. Madero towards 3rd Street and then incorporate themselves into 2nd Street.

The head of SDTUA said that, starting on June 18, other adjustments will begin simultaneously during multiple actions of this project.

He said that, including the total night closures, there will be partial closures during the day and activities will be scheduled to take place during the summer school holidays in order to take advantage of low vehicular traffic.

The night closure will be from Tuesday, April 16 to August 31 and there will be proper traffic signs, which is why the Municipal Administration of Tijuana asks citizens for their understanding and to take precautions.
