Xolos tie with Rayados in Monterrey

Tijuana will try to take first place from Toluca in Sunday’s game.

MONTERREY, NUEVO LEÓN.- With a goal from Joshua Ábrego from Xolos, and a goal by Duvier Riascos in his own net, Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles tied 1-1 with Rayados of Monterrey this Wednesday night.

The game was played at Estadio Tecnológico, as part of Week 11 of the Liga MX 2012 Apertura tournament.

The game

Both teams fought hard for control of the game and for possession of the ball, in which Xolos played better on the field and thanks to this, the visitors were able to score the first goal of the match at the 28th minute of the first half.

In the first goal of the match Fernando Arce from Xolos delivered a cross precisely inside the goalie box area, where Joshua Ábrego who is a soccer player originally from Veracruz headed the ball inside the net that was guarded by Jonathan Orozco of Monterrey, putting the Xolos ahead 1-0 on the electronic score board.

The red and black crew would continue to attack offensively, but wasn’t able to score again during the first 45 minutes of the game.

At the second half things would immediately change, when Rayados would score at the 47 minute mark to even up the score at 1-1. As the result from a corner kick, the ball ended up close to Aldo de Nigris who was ready to head the ball in, but instead the Colombian forward Duvier Riascos who was trying hard to defend his goal; regrettably put the ball inside his own net that was being defended by goal keeper Cirilo Saucedo, tying things up.

Riascos was not going to let this bad play affect his game, and tried very hard to look for another chance to score a goal, by looking for clear opportunities, but unfortunately all his shots went wide in attempts to score on Orozcos’ goal.

Xoloitzcuintles would continue to try to score, but the time ran out and the referee blew the whistle for the end of the match, giving 1 point to each team.

Tijuana will return home on Sunday, after 3 consecutive matches on the road, receiving a visit from Diablos Rojos of Toluca at Estadio Caliente. The game will be played at 6PM, Pacific Standard Time (PST).
