Lance Armstrong banned for life from cycling

He is stripped of his 7 tour de France titles

The International Cycling Union announced their verdict to the doping case against Lance Armstrong issued by the U.S. Anti-doping Agency, in which not only he will be banned from the sport for life, but he was stripped of his 7 titles from the Tour de France.

Armstrong is a cancer survivor and the championships were part of his testimony, which he obtained after medical treatment, where he successfully crowned himself as the tours champion in 1999-2005.

The U.S. Anti-doping Agency accused the former cycling champion of using steroids and a substance known as EPO, also of blood transfusions to increase blood oxygen levels.

Many of Armstrong’s team mates testified against him.

With all these years that the spot for a champion will be vacant from the Tour de France, the International Cycling Union cannot proclaim another champion, due to the fact that throughout this whole time period, there were many athletes who tested positive for doping substances.

In addition to the ban by the ICU, Armstrong might lose his Olympic medal from the year 2000 and be sued by the U.S. government.
