Champions Xolos are welcomed to Tijuana

A party that lasted hours

TIJUANA, BC. – It was close to midnight and around one thousand fans waited at the airport for Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente to arrive.

When the team arrived, it was noticeable that they were very tired since the referee blew the final whistle, which around that same time the city of Tijuana began a big celebration for the championship title the team had just obtained on the biggest stage in soccer of the Mexican division one league.

Many boulevards in the city were full of fans celebrating the victory, like at the Cuahtemoc roundabout, and another busy street was that of Avenida Revolucion, but the biggest party was at the teams home stadium "Estadio Caliente."

Everyone who attended the event at the stadium wore the team colors, shirts, pans, vests, hats, scarves, flags, welcome signs, and anything that could distinguish them from the crowd.

At the airport lines of cars in and out of the parking lot could be seen, which many of them were decorated with the score of the match and decals that read, "Xolos Champions".

Around 12:30a.m. the team finally arrived, which airport security had put a barrier for safety reasons before the team walked out, where hundreds of fans were at the airport to welcome Xolos home.

From the airport the Xoloitzcuintles now headed towards Estadio Caliente, where fans were already waiting for them to show up with the coveted trophy with the logo that credited them as champions of the Apertura 2012 tournament.

This party lasted for about 12 hours and will continue today with a caravan of celebration, which will start at 1 pm from Estadio Caliente and will be led by the red-black team.
