SAN DIEGO, CA.- Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente will count on having essentially the same roster that was part of the LIGA MX-2012 Apertura championship team. The team added two more players, midfielder Noe Maya and Daniel Omar Marquez Palacios as the team’s offseason acquisitions. The Xoloitzcuintles made the move to help with depth as the team heads into two tournaments, the 2013 Clausura and the 2013 Copa Libertadores in international play.

Club Tijuana’s senior team is training in San Diego where it will continue its preseason heading into the next Mexican soccer tournament that kicks off January 6 with a Week 1 match up at Puebla FC. The team is preparing under coach Antonio Mohamed.

Maya is a mobile midfielder that enters its third stint with Club Tijuana. The 27-year-old played for the Xoloitzcuintles during the 2007-2008 season and was part of the team in the 2011-2012 cycle as the team reached promotion to the First Division.

Maya can play as an attacking and defending midfielder, can play in the flanks and is dangerous with his speed and ball control. His last game with the Xoloitzcuintles was against Rayados de Monterrey in the Liguilla quarterfinals of the 2012 Clausura. He played for San Luis FC last tournament before returning to Tijuana.

Marquez, 26, from Guadalajara joins the Xoloitzcuintles for the first time after playing with Necaxa in the Liga de Ascenso MX, Mexico’s Second Division.

The forward came out of Club America’s youth teams and began his career in 2006. He made his First Division debut in 200 with Club America where he scored 13 goals. He also played with Las Aguilas in three versions of the Copa Libertadores where he scored three times.
