Instagram made an announcement last week regarding changes in their terms of service, and also in a way announcing that the users of this program would be losing their rights to their pictures, which the company can now use for commercial purposes.

Due to this change, a group of users have decided to file a class action suit against the company in a San Francisco Federal court, alleging the breach of contract with users.

Instagram was purchase a few months ago by Facebook for 715 million dollars, and in a quick interview by CNN with Facebook spokesman, Andrew Noves, he said that they considered the law suit to be without merit and that they would fight it vigorously.

President of Instagram, Kevin Systrom, had already talked about the modifications of policies regarding privacy that will be in effect as of January 16, 2013, and the company wanted to make it clear to users that their pictures will not be sold; however, advertisement ads will be placed around their pictures in accounts.

The users of this program who filed the lawsuit expressed that although it would be easier to close their accounts, they would still be forfeiting to the rights of pictures they had shared on Instagram previously.
