The rumors are over, through a press release it has been confirmed that Pep Guardiola will be the new head coach for FC Bayern Munich of Germany, and will be replacing current head coach Jupp Heynckes as of June, 2013.
Guardiola signed a contract to be the head coach of this soccer team until 2016.
The news was also announced on Bayern Munich's official Twitter account: "perfect! Pep Guardiola will be the Bayern Munich head coach from July to 2016. Heynckes will finish his career at the end of the season."
Before Christmas break, Jupp Heynckes was considering retiring from coaching at the end of the season.
Karl-Hienz Rummengigge understood Heynckes decision and in a press conference said, "We understand and respect Heynckes decision. Therefore, we want to win the championship in the Bundesliga to reward him."
The signing of Pep Guardiola as the new head coach has been a pleasant situation: "We are very happy to have managed to hire Pep Guardiola, who was being courted and contacted by many other football clubs. Pep Guardiola is one of the more successful coaches in the world and we are certain that he can bring a lot of luster not just to Bayern Munich, but also to German football."
Pep will be officially announced as the head coach on Friday, and it looks like Raul could possibly be his assistant.
