Duvier Riascos will not leave Xolos: the deal fell through

Club Tijuana could not find a replacement for him

TIJUANA, BC. – Everything was ready to go for the Colombian forward, Duvier Riascos, to leave to Europe and join the German soccer team VfB Stuttgart, but today it was confirmed through a German newspaper Stuttgarter Nachrichten that the deal was canceled.

The reason why the deal fell through is because Club Tijuana was not able to find a replacement for the forward Riascos. The news reached the border city early this morning.

It was believed that both parties had reached an agreement which Riascos was excited to leave, but Xolos could not come to a financial agreement with Riascos possible successors.

Some news media sources believed that he was going to be replaced by another Colombian player, Dorlan Pabon, who was playing for Parma of Italy, but Pabon will most likely now join Club Atletico Independiente of Argentina.

"It's very unfortunate, but we still have some hope that Club Tijuana changes their decision, if not, we still have a few Aces under our sleeve," said the sport director Fredi Bobic to the Stuttgarter Nachrichten.

Riascos had traveled to the Federal District in Mexico City on Sunday and took advantage of a small break from the Club.

The negotiations had forced him to stay Monday and Tuesday, and missed practice sessions with the team which the media was not allowed to attend for 3 days until today.

At least for now, Riascos will continue to play with Club Tijuana, and will be playing in the first quarter of the 2013 season of the Liga MX and in the Copa Libertadores tournament.
