Xolos Day proclaimed in San Diego

"Club Tijuana Xolitzcuintles de Caliente Day"

San Diego Council member David Alvarez officially announced this morning that February 12, will be considered as "Club Tijuana Xolitzcuintles de Caliente Day."

The representatives from the team who received the recognition by Alvarez were the Club's General Manager, Roberto Cornejo, and the forward for Alfredo Moreno.

With this recognition the Xolos now strengthen the link as the Tijuana-San Diego team.

Before the start of the teams 2013 Clausura tournament season, they held practice sessions for a few days at Petco Park, where the Mayor of San Diego, Bob Filner, welcomed the team and was given his own custom made jersey.

Thousands of fans from Southern California assist many matches that are played at Caliente stadium, and now with this special recognition from the city of San Diego, it shows the results of an effort from the region to change the image of Tijuana, and strengthen the links between these two cities and its social causes.
