Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto congratulates Mayor of Tijuana

For maintaining the city safe

The Mayor of Tijuana, Carlos Bustamante Anchondo, participated in the presentation of the Social Commission for Prevention of Violence and Crime, and was invited by the president of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, who acknowledged the efforts of municipal authorities from city of Tijuana, who have achieved to regain the peace and maintain a safe environment throughout the streets of the city.

During the meeting that was held in the city of Aguascalientes, the mayor of Tijuana had the opportunity to exchange some of his views with President Peña Nieto, about the achievements that the local government has been able to accomplish, in regards to recovering the sense of security in the city as well as the efforts in crime prevention over the past two years.

"For our city’s administration, this recognition given by President Enrique Peña Nieto for maintaining our city safe is very satisfying. And that serves as a national model of how to reduce crime levels, and how this strategy is being implemented successfully in other cities as well, "said Bustamante.

Mayor Bustamante noted that such recognition was not only for fighting crime and organized crime, but also for having a well-structured plan in crime prevention that the City Council has as its main priority, in order to preserve a calm atmosphere over the city of Tijuana.

Carlos Bustamante highlighted that the comments made by President Peña Nieto, will generate a great satisfaction, and at the same time renew the commitment to continue to follow the path to maintain a low crime rate in Tijuana.

Bustamante also handed President Peña Nieto a detailed and updated report on figures and statistics on Public Safety. The same report that was presented on Monday to the media in the border city, by the Secretary of the Municipal Security and Public Safety, Jesus Alberto Capella Ibarra.
