Basketball in Tijuana is shaping up

Elvis Medina returns to Zonkeys for a new season

TIJUANA, BC.- As the days advance, the roster for Tijuana Zonkeys is taking shape, to be ready for the start of the 2013 season of the Basketball Circuit of the Pacific Coast (Cibacopa in Spanish); and today fans were happy to know about the return of Elvis Medina to the border squad.

Medina was key part of the 2012 season were the Tijuana team was able to get to the Semifinals of the category, just one match away of the Final Series.

The player is added to the current list led by Mexico’s National Team player Adrian Zamora; the team will be very competitive and will look for the Cibacopa crown.

The full list will be given during the following days.

Actions start in April

This year, the Cibacopa Tournament will start on April second and third, to give the teams chance to form a competitive squad and to start training with the objective of having a good participation.

Tijuana Zonkeys will play with 8 other teams for the chance of a championship; the other squads are Nogales Fuerza Guinda, Cananea Mineros, Ciudad Obregon Trigueros, Guaymas Ostioneros, current champions Hermosillo Rayos, Los Mochis Pioneros, Guasave Frayles and Navolato Garra Cañera.

The following franchises are inactive and are looking for somebody to awaken them in order to make a better league: Mexicali Bomberos, Culiacan Pistones, Tepic Coras, Los Cabos Paisas, La Paz Delfines, Navojoa Paskolas, Agua Prieta Vaqueros, San Luis Rio Colorado Colorados, Guamuchil Mochomos and the Universidad Autonoma de Durango (UAD) campus Mazatlan Lobos.
