Attorneys Arturo German Rangel, Rigoberto Gonzalez and Felipe Borrego, all legal representatives of former union leader Elba Esther Gordillo Morales, have filed an appeal against the detention order that was issued against her by the Sixth District Court of Federal Criminal Proceedings.
The detention order that was issued by Judge Alejandro Caballero Vertiz stood their ground because, all of the crimes which Gordillo is alleged of committing are considered as being serious by the Federal Penal Code and are not granted bail.
Gordillo is being charged with engaging in "systematic embezzlement" and organized crime. If convicted, she could be facing up to 15 years in prison.
