Marquez: Manny Pacquiao will be the last option

His next opponent will be a U.S. fighter

MEXICO CITY. - Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez, current lightweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), said that his next rivals could be either Timothy Bradley or Brandon Rios, both whom are from the U.S.

Marquez, who is a seven time world champion in four different divisions, said he does not plan to fight against Manny Pacquiao in the near future.[p]

[p]"there is no point of a fifth fight with Pacquiao, and it was made clear of who is the best because our objective was accomplished. There is nothing left pending and everything has been resolved, and even if there would a chance of that fight happening, it would be the last option."

"Bradley won a controversial decision against Pacquiao and why not consider him if he’s a good fighter," said Marquez.

Marquez said that for the entire month of March, he will contemplate if whether he will continue in professional boxing or retire, even though he is still trying to convince his family for him to stay in the ring and possibly fight again in September.
