Xolos is back to action

The team will play against Toluca

SAN DIEGO, CA.- After two weeks off due to FIFA dates, it's back to business time for Club Tijuana. Two very important road games are coming up for the Xoloitzcuintles this week; first on Saturday evening in Toluca in a championship rematch. And then three days later in Bolivia against San Jose in the Copa Libertadores.

The Xolos will return to the sight of the championship, the field that saw them lift the trophy four months ago. But this time it is a totally different scenario. Toluca and Xolos are no longer the elite of the league fighting out a championship, now they are two teams fighting to make the playoffs and with big international responsibilities to juggle.

Toluca are currently in 14th place of the 18 team league. They are coming off of two consecutive losses to Atlas and Queretato. Toluca must win, especially at home if they want to stay alive in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Club Tijuana are barely hanging on to a playoff spot in 7th place due to the great start of the season that they had. But in the last six games Xolos have only managed to win once. Three points is need for the border town side to stay within the top eight teams in the league.

Even though both teams are in dire need of points, it is expected that both teams will field alternative squads, a mixture of regular starters and bench players. Both teams will be in action mid week in South America. Toluca are also in dire need of points in Copa Libertadores and Xolos could secure their next round ticket with a win in Bolivia.
