SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- El Tri could not get pass Peru in an international friendly in San Francisco, CA. Another scoreless game for the Mexican National Team and another game they could not win. The goal scoring problem is becoming more and more apparent.

This was an important game for some players to prove their worth to National Team head coach Jose Manuel 'Chepo' De La Torre.

Since it was not a FIFA international date, all of Mexico's European talent was not available. Players like Gerardo Flores, Hugo Ayala, Carlos Peña, Angel Reyna, Raul Jimenez, and even a returning Pablo Barrera had their opportunity to bid for a spot on the senior team.

The game started off slow. The Peruvian team got well organized in the back a looked to cut down the spaces form the Mexican forwards. El Tri players passed the ball around the midfield waiting to find a hole to exploit. Jorge Torres Nilo the Mexican left created a few chances with his runs up that left wing. Angel Reyna was also very active looking for quick one-two passes with the forwards.

The first half ended with the score nil-nil.

The second half produced some more of the same. Te Peruvians did look to have a little more possession in the early minutes. But once second half substitutes Hector Herrera and Jesus Molina got acclimated to the game Mexico retook control of the game. And Peru went back into the defensive shell.

El Tri's golden opportunity to break the deadlock came in the 69th minute when they awarded a soft penalty. Second half substitute Omar Bravo received a pass with his back to the goal, and when he felt a defender's arm Bravo just dropped to the floor. Center referee decided to point to the spot and give Mexico a shot from 12 yards out.

Angel Reyna stepped up to take the penalty. Reyna put in a low and powerful shot to the goalkeepers right side. But the shot was a bit too centered and it allowed the Peruvian keeper to dive to his right and save the shot.

The final 20 minutes of the game followed the same script. Mexico passing the ball around the midfield with no purpose and the Peruvian defense cutting down spaces and pressuring hard in their final third of the field.

With is result El Tri is now winless in the five matches played so far in 2013 including three official World Cup Qualification matches. The pressure is starting to build up on 'Chepo' De La Torre as Gold Cup, Confederations Cup, and more World Cup Qualification games are just a few short months away.
