Mexican President more influential than Obama

Top 100 list revealed

TIME magazine today released its list of the 100 most influential people, in which in the 46th spot was Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto, to whom many was a big surprise.

This list was divided into five different sections: leaders, pioneers, artists, icons, and titans.

People like Pope Francisco, Malala Yousafzai, Jay - Z, Jennifer Lawrence, Marissa Mayery, and President Barack Obama are just a few names that appear in this article with photographs and a short description that speaks of the impact that their work has had on the world.

What is said about Peña Nieto was written by the former governor of New Mexico, Bill Richardson. Richardson spoke about the perception that people had of Peña Nieto before and after the election campaign that led him to victory in obtaining the Mexican presidency.

"A pretty boy with a TV-star wife" who also "combines Reagan's charisma with Obama's intellect and Clinton's political skills," is what Richardson wrote.

After this article was published, many Mexicans expressed their thoughts in social networks and criticized the article. Several recent unforgettable moments that the Mexican President has have, for many, put in question his "political know how." Moments like when Peña Nieto did not know the capital of certain Mexican states, and also when he fell asleep during Hugo Chavez's funeral service.

On the other hand, the President of the United States, Barack Obama, was posted on the number 51 spot. His description was written by the former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, where she noted him as someone who has made more friends than enemies for America. The text refers to the first and second presidential election where Obama assumed the U.S. presidency and in short, describes his tenure as the path to a better future for the United States.
