SAN DIEGO, CA.- The Round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores is just around the corner for the Xoloitzcuitles. With the local Liga MX playoffs slipping away game by game, the Xolos will focus on the season's main objective; Copa Libertadores.

With the group play now complete in the Copa Libertadores the South American Soccer Federation (CONMEBOL) allows clubs to bolster their squads with new players. Club Tijuana has opted to not take advantage of this and continue on with it's current squad.

Antonio Mohamed coach of the Xoloitzcuitles explained that the Xolos will not add anymore players to their squad in the post game press conference following the 2-1 loss to Morelia in the Liga MX.

Mexican clubs have previously taken advantage of this rule. Most famously Cruz Azul in their run to the final in 2001. With Toluca no longer competing in the Mexican league playoffs, Cruz Azul arrange the loan of the Toluca superstar striker Jose Saturnino Cardozo. Cardozo helped the Mexico City team reach the final which they would eventually lose in a penalty shoot-out with Argentine Boca Jrs after drawing 1-1 over the two game series. Cardozo then returned to his club Toluca following the Copa Libertadores participation.
