State government officials of Baja California and from the municipal governments of Playas de Rosarito, Tijuana, Tecate and Ensenada, were all part of the inauguration of the Baja California Metropolitan Convention Center, a site that will set a new standard for tourism in the region.
The Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), Juan Jose Guerra Abud, attended the event on behalf of the Meixcan President Enrique Peña Nieto, and stressed that the Baja California Center is equipped and prepared to accommodate high-level events, which will enable the promotion of touristic and economic development of the coastal zone.
The convention center has the capacity to accommodate more than 8,000 people in the main hall, and 6,000 if it is a banquet. The exhibition halls in this facility also include an air conditioning system, capable of operating with simultaneous events going on at the same time such as exhibitions, conferences and banquets. It also has a fire protection system based on automatic sprinklers, and automated lighting to control and optimize the use of energy.
For the second stage of this project, the Government of Baja California will leave at the hands of the next government administration to build an exhibition hall that will measure about 18 thousand square meters, a rear parking lot with the capacity for 800 cars, and a large hall for conventions, conferences and banquets measuring 4,000 square meters, among other things.
