Xolos vs Chivas: The champion says goodbye to Liga MX

The game will be played on Friday at 7:30PM

SAN DIEGO, CA.- A season that started out with a lot of hope and happiness now is ruled by uncertainty. Club Tijuana will take on Chivas of Guadalajara in the final game of the Clausura 2013 tournament of the Liga MX. Both teams playing for pure pride as both their hopes of reaching the playoffs have disappeared.

The game is scheduled for Friday May 3 at 7:30PM local time at the Estadio Caliente in Tijuana. It will be part of week 17 of the Clausura 2013 season of Liga MX.

Club directors and manager Antonio Mohamed all warned that the Copa Libertadores would be the number one priority; but Tijuana Xolos have completely disregarded the local Liga MX were they are still the reigning champions for one more game. Xolos are winless in their last eight games in Liga MX and only have one win in their last 12 matches played league play.

Chivas comes in on a similar boat. Winless in their last six games with five consecutive losses to rivals America, Jaguares, Atlante, Atlas, and Queretaro. Chivas keep paying the prize season after season for their director’s bad planning. Current manager Benjamin Galindo had one day to prepare before the start of the Liga MX season. Once again Chivas will be playing for pride with no hopes at a championship.

For Friday’s game it is expected that Xolos will once again play with an alternate lineup giving key players rest thinking of the crucial Copa Libertadores return leg in Sao Paolo.

The probable starting eleven would be: Cirilo Saucedo, Juan Carlos Nuñez, Joshua Abrego, Jose Gonzalez-Tahuilan, Greg Garza, Richard Ruiz, Bruno Piceno, Fernando Arce, Fidel Martinez, Raul Enriquez, and Danny Marquez.

The game will be shown live on TV Azteca in Mexico (except Tijuana, were it will be Pay-Per-View) and on Univision Deportes Network in the United States.
