6500 participants in the Rosarito-Ensenada bike ride

Highlighting the brotherhood at the border

[p][p]A total of 6,500 participants from Baja California and abroad gathered in Rosarito last Saturday morning to participate in the 34th edition of the bike ride that ended in the city of Ensenada, which is also known as "La Reyna del Pacifico" (the Cinderella of the Pacific).

All of the participants in this event experienced the 50 mile bike ride with a lot of emotion and effort, plus a beautiful view of the coast of Baja California. Several weeks before, entries were submitted in Tijuana, Mexicali, Rosarito, Ensenada, Tecate and San Diego

Andrew Erickson, U.S. Consul General in Tijuana, was the guest of honor at the event which would highlight the brotherhood at the border. And on the other hand, Juan Tintos Funke, pointed out the change of the perspective from visitors of the U.S., where now they visit the region a lot more and have put aside the old stereotypes of violence and danger of this city.

Due to the large number of people, the event was not exempt from having political propaganda where some local candidates came to present their campaign proposals, which was something that bothered a few attendees, but also on the other hand it showed how important and necessary it is to create new legislation for cyclists in the region to ensure their safety.

Another complaint of some of participants through social networks was that some riders left their trash while doing the tour. Empty water bottles and food wrappers were the types of trash that could be seen along the way.
