Disney looking to "own" Dia de los Muertos

To protect the Pixar project

One of the oldest Mexican traditions "Dia de los Muertos" is currently in the process to be part of "The Walt Disney Company"; this to make sure that no other company will commercialize this theme.

If Disney is able to trademark this theme, there is talk that the company will launch toys, video games, jewelry and many more items related to this tradition, which will of course include the famous Mickey Mouse ears and the Disney Castles.

Let's not forget that Pixar is also currently working on a movie that is based on this great Mexican tradition, a project that was announced last year by the creative director of Pixar, John Lasseter, who is projecting to release this film sometime in 2015. The project so far is known as "The Untitled Pixar Movie about the Day of the Dead."

Supposedly, Disney is seeking to trademark "Dia de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead) to protect the Pixar project.

Disney has celebrated this Mexican tradition in its parks now for several years, and it has been a celebration that has been welcomed by those who follow it. The only hope now is that this new move by Disney, will be also welcomed by many since they want to own it.
