Slut Walk in Tijuana June 16

Bring your nicest high heel shoes

What is this walk about? Well, due to an inappropriate comment made by a Canadian police officer, Michael Sanguinetti, during a seminar on aggression at the University of York in Toronto, this is how this march has come about.

"Women should avoid dressing like sluts to avoid being victims of sexual violence" were the words spoken by the officer. Words that caused the outrage of women in many parts of the world.

In Toronto, Canada, more than 3,000 women took to the streets to march and dressed as Sanguinetti said, "sluts", to express that no matter how they dress, they should be respected and that there is nothing in the world that justifies sexual violence.

Since the comments made by Sanguinetti, this march has taken place in various cities around the world including Montreal, London, Matagalpa, Melbourne, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Tegucigalpa and many more, including Tijuana.

In Tijuana the date for this march is Sunday June 16th, at the famous scissors statue round-about by the Tijuana Cultural Center ( CECUT). Joining this march will be the lesbian community, who will be marching to demand their rights as well.

The message in this march, which has a name that is very "intense", is that women are not sex objects and should not be used as such.
