Klinsmann: "We want to be the best in CONCACAF"

The USMNT head coach Jurgan Klinsmann says he wants to win the Gold Cup to be the best team in the region.

SAN DIEGO - United States Men's National Team (USMNT) head coach and new team DaMarcus Beasley offered a press conference from the team's hotel in San Diego. Klinsmann mentioned that the team only feels pressure to win the upcoming Gold Cup tournament because they want to be the best team in the CONCACAF region, not because of anything any of their rivals have done.

"Mexico did a great job last year in London, but we are focused on what we need to do. The only thing they have done that we consider is the fact that they have won the last two Gold Cups because we want to win them. Hopefuly we meet each other in the final" said the national team coach.

DaMarcus Beasley mentioned that the move to Mexico's Liga MX has paid off in his career.

"When I left germany a few years ago with out playing much all I wanted to do is play football. Going to Mexico was a huge risk, but it has paid off. I am now playing regularly and that has gotten me back on the National Team radar" said the new USMNT captain.

The team will hold an open practice session later in the day, something Beasley and the rest of the squad are really looking forward to.

"For me personally its great to be in the USA for the forth of July, and yeah spending the day with the fans watching how we prepare is going to be special and motivate us a little more" said DaMarcus.

The US team will play their only preparation match prior to the start of the 2013 Gold Cup in Qualcomm Stadium on Friday night at 8:00PM local time.
