Chivas 2-2 Tijuana Xolos: First point on the road

Xolos had the lead but end up with a draw.

GUADALAJARA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles give up another late goal that ends up costing them points. Xolos had the lead 2-1 late in the game but it all ended with a 2-2 draw after a Marco Fabián free kick. This is the first time the Xoloitzcuintles pick up a point on the road this season in the Liga Bancomer MX under the management of Jorge "El Negro" Almiron.

It is a night and day difference the dominance that Xolos are able to hold over their opponents at home and the form that they show when they visit another team. Chivas controlled the majority of the game, but Xolos still had a wonderful opportunity to walk away with the victory; opportunity that was not taken.

Chivas took an early lead after some bad defending on a corner kick which allowed the home side's captain Hector Reynoso a free header which he took advantage to open the scoring. Club Tijuana's defense has allowed some soft goals all season and this was another one.

Xolos tried to react but did not manage to put any real pressure on Chivas goalkeeper Luis Michel. But the visitors found an equalizer after the great vision from Argentine midfielder Cristian Pellerano found a wide open Aldo Polo on the right side of the field. Polo followed up the great pass with an even better finish chipping the ball over the charging goalkeeper.

In the early goings of the second half Club Tijuana lived their best moments in the match and make the game an even battle with the home side. In the 60th minute Dario Benedetto chased a long pass and sent in the cross to where Fidel Martinez was to put in his sixth goal of the season to give the Xolos the 2-1 lead.

Once again Tijuana could could not hold on and saw their lead disappear when Marco Fabian struck a free kick past Cirilo Saucedo to tie the game. Chivas had already managed to push Tijuana deep into their own field in search of that equalizer which was fully deserved.

Tijuana had a couple chances late in the game to find a winning goal through a few corner kicks but nothing came of them. Tijuana will now return home to where they will host Cruz Azul next Friday at the Estadio Caliente.
