Three Xolos on the international stage

Big World Cup qualifying games coming up.

TIJUANA - Three of Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles’ players will be participating with their National Teams this FIFA Break during the final two rounds of World Cup qualifying. Fernando Arce, Edgar Castillo, and Fidel Martinez are all with their National Teams at the moment.

Of the three only Edgar Castillo and the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) have already won a ticket into next year’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil. USA will face Jamaica on Friday night and Panama on Tuesday October 15. Jamaica is already eliminated from any possibilities of reaching the World Cup, but Panama will be fighting for the chance of reaching their first ever World Cup.

Fidel Martinez and the Ecuadorian National Team is currently sitting on the last direct ticket into the World Cup in fourth place with 22 points. Their next opponent Uruguay is tied on points with them in fifth place for which that match is of crucial importance on Friday night. Ecuador will also visit Chile on the final game on Tuesday October 15.

Fernando Arce and the Mexican National Team will also be playing for their World Cup ticket in the final two games. Especially their next one against Panama. Mexico and Panama are currently tied in points with the Central American team holding the tiebreaker over the Mexicans and holding on to the World Cup playoff ticket, El Tri will need a win over the Panamanians on Friday night as well as against Costa Rica on Tuesday October 15 when they visit San Jose.
