New Liga MX season around the corner, Xolos ready for prep matches

Three matches on deck for the Xolos before the Apertura kickoff.

TIJUANA - The World Cup might sill be going on, but the 2014 Apertura season of LIGA Bancomer MX is right around the corner. Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente have been training hard under Venezualan manager Cesar Farias who will lead the team for a second consecutive season.

The team has completed the physical beach training part of the preseason and are ready to take the field to start getting some soccer rhythm back into their legs. Copa Tijuana is set to take place this week at the Estadio Caliente beginning on Thursday July 3rd. The four team tournament will included the Tijuana Xolos, their second division affiliate Dorados of Sinaloa, recently promoted Leones Negros of U.d.G, and Defensa y Justicia of Argentina.

The Xoloitzcuintles will face off against the Argentinians while Dorados and Leones Negros will play each other on Thursday July 3rd. The winner of each match up will play in the final on Saturday July 5th while the two losers will play for the third place on the same day.

Xolos will also participate in the San Diego Clasico on Saturday July 12th in San Diego's Petco Park. Club Tijuana will face a fellow Liga MX rival Cruz Azul while the even will also host another match; Club America vs Dorados of Sinaloa.

Following those three preparation matches, Tijuana will be set to kickoff the new season of Liga MX on Friday July 18th against Cuauhtemoc Blanco's Puebla at the Estadio Caliente.
