Manchester United to keep Kagawa, will listen to offers for Nani, Hernandez

Getting ready for the english Premier League

Manchester United's Louis van Gaal continues to shape his team ahead of the fast approaching English Premier League season and has revealed playmaker Shinji Kagawa will be staying with the team. Meanwhile, the Dutchman has told sources that he is ready to listen to offers for seven players.

The retention of Kagawa will mean he will be third choice behind Juan Mata and new-boy Ander Herrera. Kagawa joined Manchester United in 2012 from Borussia Dortmund, but has struggled to make an impact on the team. Van Gaal's desire to keep the Japanese player comes as a surprise as he whittles his roster down to a more "streamlined" squad.

Of the players Van Gaal will listen to offers for, Mexican international Javier Hernandez seems the most surprising. Though Hernandez has been hampered by injury in the past, his ability to get timely goals for the club is a key attribute of the striker. Hernandez scored 37 goals in 101 matches for the Red Devils, but looks destined for the Old Trafford exit with Southampton a likely destination. However, Juventus, Inter and Atletico Madrid have also shown interest in the Mexican.

Brazilian right-back Rafael, Anderson, Marouane Fellaini, Wilfried Zaha, Nani, and striker Will Keane have all been told they can leave the club, too. Fellaini has been linked with Rafa Benitez's Napoli side while the other players have not received many concrete offers, if any, at this time.

Last week, it was reported United and Napoli could agree a swap-deal between Fellaini and Dries Mertens. However, it now appears Napoli would rather keep Mertens and purchase Fellaini outright.

In addition to selling these players, United hope to add a defender after falling short on the signature of Thomas Vermaelan. United is in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, but could close the transfer window without adding to the backline.
