Mayor Astiazarán Honors Mexico's Historic Women During Flag Raising

At Secundaria No. 83 School

TIJUANA.- "On this day, as is stated in the National Civic's Calendar, civil, military and educative authorities honor one of our Nation Symbols, Mexico's Flag with the purpose of elevating it through work that will lead us to the creation of a better city", indicated Tijuana's Mayor, Doctor Jorge Astiazarán Orcí, during the month's corresponding raising of the Patriotic Labarum.

The act took place at Secundaria No. 83, Josefina Rendón Parra School, where Mayor Astiazarán mentioned two Mexican women, Leona Vicario and Josefa Ortíz de Domínguez, who were outstanding characters during the fight for Mexico's independence, thanks to their liberty ideals and valuable action which were fundamental for the country's liberation.

"In memory of them, and of many other valuable women, I come here today on behalf of the city to thrust their patriotism, loyalty and sense of duty, which together we worship and honor upon this flag. Our banner symbolizes Mexico's Independence and liberty", said Mayor Astiazarán.
