To me life has some it moments. Moments when you seem to understand things in a more profound way.

One of the great pleasures of drinking wine is the emotion that comes from tasting something like nothing else you've tasted before it.

You know, an "it" moment.

Sometimes is a varietal, sometimes a type of wine, but once you experience that thrill of finding something new, the joy of drinking wine becomes that much greater. The reason being that you understand that all your preconceived notions meant nothing (the I only drink this, I only drink that nonsense), that wine drinking is a world of possibilities and that limiting yourself is the biggest mistake you could ever do.

One of the reasons we don't experience more of those great moments it's because we get in our own way, we assume too much.

That's one of reasons I always try to taste anything and everything. Because every once in a while, If you pay attention, you will have that moment. The moment when you'll let out a slight smile and everything will freeze and the first thing that will come to mind is why hadn't I tasted this before?

The best part is that it doesn't have to be a 100 dollar wine. It usually never is.

But the thrill of finding something new is priceless.

Sinergi VT Planeta Tannat 2010

Beautiful purple color. Strong blackberry and plum aromas with a touch of spice. Big dark fruit flavors are followed by some chocolate and toasty oak. A wine with huge tannins kept very nicely in check. Needs time but shows plenty of promise.
