Tijuana.- State police officers found a human head Wednesday wrapped inside two plastic bags inside a sports bag, authorities announced.

The officers found the bag around 5 a.m. between two streets in the public housing complex Infonavit Lomas Verdes, on the city’s west side, the state Attorney General’s Office announced.

The head bore four gunshot wounds, the agency said.

A poster board was found next to the bag with a message written in black ink, whose message was not revealed.

Investigators were working to identify the victim and the possible origin of the message.
