Mexicos U-22 soccer team that will compete in the Copa América tournament will play a friendly match against Colombias team on June 15 in Tijuana, the Mexican Futbol Federation announced.
The Mexican squad was originally scheduled to play against Chivas USA but now will square off against El Independiente de Medellín.
The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Estadio Caliente, home to the Xoloitscuintles de Tijuana, which recently won a promotion to Mexicos First Division.
The U-22 team is practicing in Mexico City, under the direction of coach Luis Fernando Tena, while Mexicos main team, directed by José Manuel de la Torre, is playing in the Gold Cup tournament under way in the United States. That team beat El Salvador 5-0 in Dallas on Sunday and plays against Cuba on Thursday in Charlotte, N.C.
The U-22 team is preparing for Copa América competition, July 1 to 24, in Argentina. The Mexican team will play four tune-up matches: Against Venezuela on Saturday (June 11) in Las Vegas; against Colombia on June 15 in Tijuana and on Jun 22 in Cali; and against Ecuador on June 25 in Quito.
