Mexico rallies from behind to clinch Gold Cup

Sold-out crowd at Rose Bowl see U.S.-Mexico match

PASADENA. - The sold-out crowd at the Rose Bowl erupted into delirium as Mexico rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Saturday night against their old rival, the United States, 4-2.

The United States scored two goals in the first half, by Michael Bradley and Landon Donovan.

The goals stunned the Mexican squad and briefly quieted the Rose Bowl.

Then Mexico’s team responded with two goals before the half-time break and then two more in the second half to claim the final.

For Mexico, Pablo Barrera scored two goals, and Andrés Guardado and Giovani Dos Santos scored one each for Mexico.

The victory qualifies Mexico for the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil, which will be a preview of the 2014 World Cup there.
