According to Tijuana’s public safety department, an unidentified man died in an accident in Magallón Boulevard on Saturday during the storm and two others were seriously injured. At least four others were injured in vehicle accidents across the city blamed on the rain, the department added.

The weather system caused a snowstorm in the mountainous pass of La Rumorosa, about 70 miles of Tijuana, temporarily closing the key highway to Mexicali. The closure stranded passenger buses, cargo trucks and other vehicles, Civil Protection authorities reported, including families who had ventured out to play in the snow.
