Two U.S. teens wanted for murder arrested in Baja

Both were from San Diego County

TIJUANA—State authorities detained on Tuesday two U.S. citizens wanted north of the border murder.

After receiving word from U.S. authorities, state police launched an operation in the business sector of the Río Zone where the two apparently had been spotted.

Karim Josué Álvarez, 19, and David Chavoya, 18, both from San Diego County, were detained on

Avenida Paseo de los Héroes

According to information provided by U.S. authorities, Chavoya is accused of killing a man in Chula Vista on March 7.

State police said Alvarez also was wanted for murder, but did not provide details.

The two men were turned over to Mexico’s federal authorities, who will coordinate with their counterparts in the United States for their return there.
