The best Spring Break in five years

The holiday brought good numbers to Baja California

Baja California had the best spring break in five years by showing and important touristic affluence on its five municipalities.

According to the tourism secretariat of the state, they welcomed 338 thousand visitors and the biggest concentration was on the beach area.

The port of Ensenada showed an hotel occupation of 91%, a bigger number from last year's 86%.

Touristic spots like "La bufadora" were visited by 50 thousand people.

Another place was San Felipe which reported 100% of the hotel occupation based on a sample of 14 hotels and 674 rooms. Rosarito increased from 69% to 77%, while San Quintín grew from 65 to 70% on this weekend.

Cities like Tijuana and Mexicali also showed more visitors.

Tijuana reported a 40% of the hotel occupation, a rise from 34% of 2011, most of the visitors went to parks and the beach. Mexicali grew from 38 to 44%.

The tourist secretariat mentioned that the public security programs were reinforced to offer better comforts to visitors.

Most of the people were from Baja California and also the State of Sonora, México and the United States.
